It's Gonna Be Worth It All

IT'S GONNA BE WORTH IT ALL!

Any day now, my son James and his wife Angela will be having baby #2. Baby Benjamin James is expected to arrive some time around October 3rd, 2013, give or take a few days.

As a mother of four living children and two that have gone before me, I know what it's like to rub my large, round tummy and imagine a newborn in my arms. But by the 38th week or so, I would start to wonder if my baby was ever gonna come, and at night, I'd dream about being pregnant forever!

There's a good reason why people call this glorious condition "expecting" and I'm glad this term is closely attached. One of the wonderful outcomes of pregnancy is holding your precious newborn in your arms for the very first time, and the reward for going through an intense labor and delivery is the incredible smell of your baby's head, or his fresh, apple breath! It was those expectations that helped me cope when I lost sight of my feet and started the countdown to D-Day, knowing what cup I still had to drink from.

Today, I'm expecting, but I'm not pregnant...

I'm gazing, even though I can't see...

I'm standing, after having done all to stand...

And in a world that sometimes lacks hope, I've decided to put my trust in the Lord of hope.

There are fewer and fewer things you can count on in life. Products are cheaply made, not what they used to be. Good work ethic is harder to find, and services lack quality. When someone gives me their word, I still expect them to make good on their promise, because a mans word is suppose to be his bond.

Jesus expected us to expect because He knew it would help us keep our chin up when times got tough. Just like a pregnant woman knows she will one day see her baby, so we should expect, knowing one day we will behold our Savior face to face.

John 14:1-3 says, “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.

Never stop expecting. It's gonna be worth it all.

Well to be honest I do not expect much. I only expect food from my mom and a house to sleep under at night that is provided by my dad. I am every GRAETFUL for both of these. But what I am waiting for is December, when I get to sleep in again. YES I LOVE MY SLEEP . I was expecting football but it has started. All of it, my football and the NLF football and the SEC. So right now I am super happy. Except I have to do school  but it is not that bad just time consuming. So in sort I am expecting December, the holidays, cold weather, and my dad being home. $amuel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm expecting my birthday in about 16 days. I'm going to be 12, and I'm expecting a lot of phone calls from my grandparents, aunts, and uncles. I'm expecting a whole bunch of fun in this class because its researching all your ancestors and their history. I'm also expecting so much fun in co-op this year, because "I'm in Shakespeare for the first time!"

Samuel,

It's good to have things you can look forward to, to help you get your mind off mundane tasks, or school that seems so time-consuming.

Right now, both you and I (and probably a whole lot of others) are looking forward to Saturday, November 23rd, when we can sleep until we can't anymore. We should have a contest that day to see who sleeps in the longest!

Evan,

Wow - so much to look forward to this year!

Farther out in the year, Shakespeare is sure to be fun and exciting. Also, the classes you are taking will make your co-op year fly by. In 16 days, you'll be honored and celebrated by those who love you. After this year, you can say good-bye to your pre-teens. Your life is flying by!!!

Jared,

Please explain crew. I'm not sure what that is.

When you can bet something will meet or exceed your expectations, that's wonderful. It's when you expect too much and all you are left with is disappointment.

A youth retreat in the Fall sounds like a blast. I'm sure it will make the grade. Have fun!!!

Glen,

Your goal to make first class in Boy Scouts is fabulous. I know you have to accomplish quite a bit to make that happen but the effort will be worth it all.

The best time to camp is definitely in the cooler weather. It's so much better when a camp fire is intended to warm you instead of making you sweat!

I expect you'll have a great time this Fall :)

Right now I am not expecting much other than two things. The first thing I am expecting is for my mom and sisters (Alyssa and Kaitlin) to go to Pennsylvania. My brother Ryan, my dad and I will have some guy time. I am also expecting to do a duo with SUPER GINGER!!!!!!!!!!! Right now we are not exactly sure what we are going to do. We WERE going to do Dr.Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, but I don't think a lot of people would like the ending. We have a few ideas like Treasure Island, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Pirates of the Caribbean, and a few others. I am, however, looking forward to Christmas and Thanksgiving. I'm already starting to see some decorations in stores. I love Christmas because it is a time when I can see some family that I don't get to see often. Tell me if you have any ideas for a good speech topic for us to do.

This year my two greatest expectations are college acceptance and graduation. I look forward to and have great anticipation for both. In the mean time though, I am working hard to get good grades, continue to heal from my injury and hopefully get back into wake boarding. But like you stated Mrs. Larson, we have so much to be grateful for in this life because of Christ, that writing everything down would take way to long.

Connor,

The great part about holidays is we can expect them yearly, since they hold a permanent place marker on the calendar. I don't think anyone could vote them out without a riot taking place!

It sounds like you and your dad are expecting to have a good time when the females in your house leave town. I expect you'll eat junk food, sleep late, and crown yourselves King and Prince of the remote control!

I would love to help you with ideas for a good speech topic but I will need to hear what your parameters are. Lets talk :)

Jenna,

I expect you'll continue to heal and I stand with you in conquering the wake board once again.

This is a year full of hope and accomplishment as you complete the last leg of the high school race. I expect to see you cross the finish line and then move on to the next heat... college.

I am excited to a part of your high school memories!

I'm expecting to get a package in the mail on Thursday or Friday. Also I'm expecting my boaters license to come in the mail within the next week or two.

I am expectant on a lot of little things. For example to have dinner, have a bed, to have a home, have Christmas, next year to get my permit, then to graduate high school, and most likely collage after that probably get married and start a family. Nothing really big is happening in my life right now. I just try to take each day step by step and remember that Jesus is who I expect to come again. He is my hope and joy.

LOL(lots of love)

Preston,

You have a way of saying a lot in just a few short sentences.

Expecting a shipment or waiting for a piece of mail has to be one of the best examples of hopeful expectancy ever!

You know the package is coming because you ordered something and maybe even paid for it. Everyday, when the dogs in neighborhood bark at the approaching UPS truck, you look up to see whose house he parks in front of, hoping it will be yours.

This is expectant hope!

We all look to the day when He splits the Eastern sky and calls us home!!!

Autumn,

Proverbs says, "Hope differed makes the heart sick." In other words, God wants us to have healthy expectations, like yours, because they keep our hearts from aching.

We go through seasons where nothing is going on. I like to think of those times as the "dreaming stage" where you build in your head.

The next thing you know, you're doing the stuff you dreamed of!

In a matter of years, you'll be driving, graduated, and married with a ton of kids and we'll all say, "How did that happen?"

I’m looking forward to a time when I can travel around Europe and Australia. Experiencing different cultures and cuisines is a passion of mine. Seeing the Eiffel Tower, Stonehenge, and the Parthenon are just a few of the places I’d love to see. I am hopeful to have a career that allows me to fulfill this dream.
