TRADING PLACES

by Alyssa Thrift

God's creations are amazing. Although humans are the most intelligent, animals have many great characteristics that humans don't have.

Birds can fly, sea creatures can breath under water, and some animals can sleep for a whole winter! God's creativity, when it comes to animals, is extremely amazing.

All my life, I have learned to love and appreciate all the creatures that live on the earth. If I could be any animal, I would definitely have to choose between a dolphin or a panda. (Those are pretty sweet animals in my opinion.)

There is NO WAY the earth could have been "an accident"; all the unique creatures that walk the earth prove it. I say that
because a sudden explosion, or whatever scientist try to tell us these days, can NOT produce such outstanding creations; and especially SO many!

Think about it. . . What kind of animal would you be?
Based on skills, looks, or the uniqueness of each animal, tell me what kind of animal do you wish you could be?

If I could be an animal,I would love to be a horse! That way I can really know what it feels like to barrel race instead of sitting on top and driving. I would always try to perform my best and run my hardest. That way my rider would always win on me,because I truly understand what she is asking for, not just giving demands and asking me to run hard around three barrels for no reason. We would be a team and I wouldn't fight her so much about working hard in the late evenings only because I know she is trying to keep me fit for my next race.

I don't think I'd want to be an animal unless I could retain my human mental faculties. What's the point of enjoying a cool ability if you're always having to avoid the next preditor or solely relying on instinct? But if I could still think the same, I think I might want to be an orangutan. They're crazy strong, live in rain forests, have relatively few enemies and opposable toes. Plus if I found my way to Hollywood I'd be an instant star (I can talk). Then I'd get rich off my own series of cruddy sports movies like Air Bud.

Now, I know that most of you people think I would chose a llama as the animal I'd wanna be... well, you're wrong, because that is not what I'd wanna be. Llamas are interesting, yes, but I really wouldn't want to wake up one day and look into the mirror and find out that I was a llama.

But the animal that I want to become would have to be a kiwi bird. Those little guys are so awesome. They are tiny birds in the shape of kiwis, but with long beaks and tiny, hardly noticeable wings. They probably aren't very glorious in the things they do, but that's what makes them so glorious, you know.

I just would think it superly duperly amazing if I were to awake as such a creature.

Thank you, and have a good day.

Amy,
Nice choice! Being a horse would be cool!! It would be cool actully understanding what your horse feels, and maybe finding out that some things you thought were good/bad were really the opposite!

Daniel,
That is interesting to know you wouldn't want to be an animal, and I agree with you some what. Humans have such advantages over animals, but it doesn't mean animals aren't cool ;). An orangutan sounds interesting to be! (Especially a talking one!!)

If I could be an animal, I would be a panda because the panda is my favorite animal. -Hunter Rice

Nathan,
Sounds cool! I admit I did think you would choose a Llama!! :)
But a Kiwi bird sounds really cool.

Hunter,
I looove pandas. They are such cool animals. To bad they are close to extinction :/ GREAT choice! ;)

would want to be...but if I have to pick one...

I would say I would want to be a Snow Tiger. They are so powerful, somewhat unique, and very beautiful. I've loved them ever since I was little. If I can't be one (sad) I would love to own one, but i'm pretty sure it's illegal. =]

Shay,
Sounds cool..I never thought of being a Snow tiger. I agree, they are really unique. You know if you're careful enough you just might be able to hide one..I mean come on know one will notice a 8 foot tall Tiger in your yard! ;) Just kidding =P

A common ordinary housecat would be my animal of preference. True, they are snooty, manipulative and independent. Since the creatures are so fickle, no one expects a whole lot from them. So . . . when they decide to show affection, their owners gladly reciprocate. Even when I am doing wrong, I could do no wrong. All I have to do is purr or utter a sad little meow, and my humans are putty in my paws. I am the queen of the world.

A Bald Eagle. The fact that they have no natural enemies, plus the fact that you would have pure bliss diving from hundreds of feet in the air to swoop down and grab some rabbit or other animal, be fore they even know what is going on.

I might also want to be a Velociraptor. Those things were awesome in Jurassic Park (1,2,and 3). also love the sounds they make (Even if they weren't the exact sounds, they still sound cool.)

Well, I've thought about this long enough and I would say a dog. After all, they are "man's best friend." Besides, I've had good training for this already. I'm good at fetching; I've been following my husband around now for over 30 years so my track record for faithfulness as a companion has been proven; I'm house trained; and I'm not fussy about what you feed me. I don't mind baths, like some breeds I know, and have a good strong bark.

The best part about being a dog would be all the affection I think I would receive. Not to mention having others clean up after my messes, if you know what I mean.

The worst part about it would definitely be the short life span. There is no way I could accomplish the things I still yearn to do in such a short amount of time. On the other hand, if I WERE a dog right now, I'd be 350 years old!

Mrs. Brooks,

I love that idea of all that attention. Cats seem to get whatever they want, when they want. What a sweet life! (Simple too ;P) I definitely agree with the "Queen of the world" thing. Cats never seem to have any expectations, so what ever they do is their own business.

Good choice!

Kyle,
A bald eagle? Sounds cool to me. They are extremely amazing birds..Their hunting skills are sweet. I personally like looking at them in the Jax Zoo. Other types of birds seem to be airheads (I love birds but you've gotta admit they can be dumb) But bald eagles are very intelligent. A bald eagle suites you.

Mrs. Larson,
I personally LOVE dogs, and I agree with all you said about them being loyal and man's best friend. Depending on the breed, they can be pretty dumb though. But since your a smart person, I'm sure you would make a smart dog! (By the way, 350 year old dogs can be cool too!) =P

I'd want to be a fox, preferably with silver coloring. I absolutely adore foxes. They're sneaky, cute, and mischievous. :] What's not to love? Not to mention their fluffy tails. :D They're my favorite animal and I'm currently in the process of convincing my parents that they make great pets.

Anonymous,

Like I was saying to Kyle, Eagles are a great choice! They are highly intelligent and they must be good if they made it as America's national symbol. That is true about them being mentioned in the bible! I didn't think of that, and I'm glad you said that.

Alaina,
Ooh! Foxes are REALLY cool! I agree with whats not to love. I think all fox are cool, but silver ones would have to be the best in my opinion.
(Their tails are like the best part ;P) If your parents let you get one help me get my parents approval!
;)

I've always wanted to be a tree frog i don't know why either.

I've just thought they have always been c00l looking. =] idk.... it Just has ben my favorite animal sense i was a like 6.

Ah, Amy completely read my mind! I would absolutely love to be a horse! Arabians, Shires, Frisians, Appaloosas, Quarters--they are such beautiful animals. Also, having enjoyed their companionship, I hope as a horse I would be able to enjoy a human's (or humans') companionship. If not, being a wild horse would not be so bad either--galloping around practically free from all the cares of the world!

As a second choice, I would say that I would want to be an animal that makes music, probably a songbird of some sort. If I could retain my human intellect, I would definitely attempt to belt out some beautiful human music. However, singing with a God-given natural bird voice would be beautiful in itself!

Josh,
Tree frogs are cool looking! They are adorable too.. =P Interesting choice ;)

I know my answer is very basic, but I would like to be a dog for a day. I have two dogs myself so I know that they have an easy life.

I think I would want to be a panther. Not only are these animals beautiful, but they're also smart, fast, and powerful creatures.

Anonymous said...

Tina,
Very nice choice. There are very many different kinds of horses! And they are all really cool looking in their own ways. God is amazing, not only did he come up with the awesome animal, a horse, but he created so many different kinds!

Anonymous said...

Demetri,
A dog may be a basic answer, but that doesn't mean they aren't awesome ;)

Anonymous said...

Christy,
I agree, panthers are extremely smart, powerful and really beautiful!
