There IS a HOPE!

by Matt Malone

1 Corinthians 15:55 "O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?"

Easter Sunday is a very important Sunday, but why? It's certainly not about bunnies or getting some good ole Easter candy. THE TRUE meaning of Easter is about the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Three days earlier, Jesus was beaten and crucified on a cross for the payment of our sins. But since He died, Jesus' disciples thought that all hope was gone, for He was their hope and now He had died. They forgot what He said about Him rising from the dead. When Peter and the other disciple saw the linen cloths lying in that tomb, they believed, and there was a hope again! Now there would always be hope! Praise God!

Ever been scared of death? I know I have. We shouldn't be, should we? Just as Christ was raised from the dead, so will His believers and death has no power over us. Something that God has really been teaching me lately is that He is our all in all; He is our hope and in Him we find eternal life. Since He is all these things, then the world has nothing to offer that is greater than this. He's also been teaching me that even in the worst of times, He is still right there with me, even when it doesn't seem like it. During our trials, that's when we should draw nearer to God. If we do, He will surely reward us and make us stronger in our faith. For He puts us through trials not to harm us, but simply because He loves his children and wants them to learn as they go and succeed in life. The best is yet to come.

So with all this said, my questions are . . .
Who is Jesus to you?
Do you find joy in the resurrection?
What does Easter mean to you?
What matters more to you, Easter or Christmas?

There's really not a right or wrong answer, I just want your personal opinion :-P.
I encourage all of you to read 1 Corinthians 15 (all of it.)

Jeez. That's a lot to answer. Let's see if I can remember it all. Ah. I found the show Original Post button.

Who is Jesus to me? Well, he is God for one, but also the Son of God. He is like Chuck Norris, Luke Skywalker, Master Chief, Wolverine, and Batman rolled into one awesome evil butt-kicking God. (Ha! Beat that analogy.)

Do I enjoy the resurrection? Like spiritually, physically, or mentally? Well, I'll just answer all three.

Spiritually? Yes.
Physically? Not really.
Mentally? It's kind of like any other day.

What does Easter mean to me? You mean like besides the obvious Jesus answer?
Um... I can eat as many Peeps as I want.

What matters more? Christmas, hands down.

Comparing any holiday to Christmas is like comparing Wild Adventures to Disney. It's pretty obvious which is better. (Yes, I do mean Disney is the better of the two.)

First of all, the only opinions of Jesus or Easter that matter are those that line up with the facts taught in the Bible (which would make them not opinions at all but truth). Therefore I believe according to the Word of God that Jesus was God's Son incarnate, was born of a virgin, died sinless on a cross, and rose three days later (Easter) restoring glory and honor to God and giving sinful man an opportunity for eternal life. I have accepted that gift so now Jesus is my Savior as well as my God.

Secondly, the significance of Easter is that it is the fulfillment of all the things Jesus taught, and proved that He was God. If Jesus never rose it would have proved He was a liar and merely human. And if Jesus couldn't save Himself, what power would He have to save all of mankind? But since He's alive those who have accepted His gift of eternal life have hope that He will fulfill His promises.

Third, in my opinion (don't know whether the Bible says so or not), Easter is more important than Christmas because it is the fulfillment of all God's messianic promises to the Jews. Without Easter, Christmas is in vain.

Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. I absolutely find joy in the resurrection. I have been redeemed! I would have no hope had my sins, that were nailed to cross and covered by his blood, not been defeated. I am so overwhelmed that His love for me is so much greater than my sin against Him. Jesus' birth was essential; but his death, burial and resurrection is the essence of Christianity and should be celebrated with as much or more fervor than Christmas.

I like Christmas more for the presents, but Easter is good too because I always get lots of chocolate.

1. Who is Jesus to you?
To me? Jesus is the only way to Heaven. He's God. He's the creator of everything that has ever existed.
2. Do you find joy in the resurrection?
Of course. Jesus performed a miracle and rose from the dead after three days of being dead...i think that'd bring joy to anyone.
3. What does Easter mean to you?
Easter means new life...along with bright colors and candy.
4. What matters more to you, Easter or Christmas?
Well, without Christmas there would be no Easter. haha.

Finding Jesus ended my search for true love; He caused my restless heart to cease looking for contentment, for I found it in Him. He gave me a reason to live again; made me feel significantly adored. I am amazed by the love of this Man.

If it were not for His resurrection, I would still be dead; but because of Him, I live!

I seem to identify with Mary, who found Him in the garden just before ascending to His Father. I would have been right there with her, looking for the One that captured my heart and made me whole again. That is what I think about at Easter.

Christmas or Easter? Both events were important. It's kind of like saying, "What came first... the chicken or the egg?

I would say that Jesus is definitely God to me. Jesus is also my savior, best friend, and redeemer. I don't think about the resurrection every moment, but it does bring comfort to me sometimes. It gives me joy that we have something to look forward to besides this life. As far as the best part of Easter besides Jesus, I would have to say that it would not be peeps (seriously, those things look cool, but they are disgusting). I prefer Reese's.

Christmas is A really good day not just because of getting presents but more the fact that it's celebrating a day When Jesus was born. Without him coming down and paying for our sins we would not have been forgiven.

Jesus to me is a wonderful God because he gives us the choice to choose. Plus he is my savior.

Oohh its like a survey.

Who is Jesus to you? - Jesus is a lot to me. He is whatever I need at the moment, whether that is a debate partner, a confident, a freezing dose of reality, or just a friend to chat with. Most importantly though, he is my savior and the only thing keeping me from Hell.

Do you find joy in the resurrection? - I find immense joy in the fact that I will not spend an eternity in Hell, burning and suffocating without the sweet requiem of death. I don't find pleasure in thinking about the pain that it had to come with, but I'm grateful for it having happened.

What does Easter mean to you? - The holiday doesn't mean much to me because its been infected by candy, but the resurrection means a lot to me. But the day is just another day, just like any other holiday is just another day.(Heck I don't even make that big of a deal of my birthday.)

What matters more to you, Easter or Christmas? - ...I like presents, okay? I don't know, without Jesus being born there would be no Easter, and if there were no Resurrection we would all be seriously screwed over. So in the sense of what those holidays were originally for, um you can't compare them because without either we'd be doomed. Seriously. But if we're talking about their more selfish benefits, I had enough cavities before I got my permanent teeth that I don't need anymore so I like Christmas better.(Not that I don't like chocolate >_> )

The Lord to me is my Holy Father, a Father that will always be with me through any situation in my life. He is someone I love faithfully. I don't have to see him to know he is there. Yes I do enjoy the resurrection, evan thou it makes me extremely sad to think of all the pain and suffering He went through for me. When I was little Easter to me was eating chocolate bunnys and havng a good time with my family hunting Easter eggs. But now it is more special to me because I have come to understand the true meaning of it all. And YES!!!! I care more about Easter than Christmas.

Who is Jesus to you?

Theological answer: Jesus is GOD; He came to earth as a human baby born of a virgin (100% man AND 100% God); He came to die for our sins on the cross, experiencing the ultimate suffering and pain for sins He had never committed; He rose again three days later, showing even more that He is God and giving us victory over death; He ascended into heaven and is now at the right hand of the Father! (There is so much more to add here, but I'm not going to give you a sermon.)

Personal answer: He is my sovereign Lord and personal Savior. Because He has opened up my eyes and given me life and salvation, His life is not some fact that I agree with in my head but something that has great meaning to my heart! His grace is truly amazing! His mercy is astounding! His love is unfathomable! I love Him because He first loved me!

The three other questions closely relate to what I just wrote :). Because of the resurrection, I have the ultimate joy--without it, my faith would be in vain! Easter is synonymous with my answer to "Who is Jesus to you?"...Because of Christ's death and resurrection, I am saved from bondage to my sins and have eternal life instead of eternal judgment!

And I agree with Ms. Chrissy--Easter and Christmas are equally important. Plus, shouldn't we celebrate Christ's birth, life, death, and resurrection everyday?

Who is Jesus to me? He's my best friend my Savior and the one who will always be there for me and the one I want to live my life for.
Yes I find joy in the resurection. If we didn't have the resurection we would have no hope and when Jesus rose from the grave he gave the whole world hope that nothing or no one else can give and that is eternal life.
Easter to me is a great reminder of how great our God is. He sent His only son to die for me and pay for my sins which I don't deserve.
Christmas or easter? To me without easter christmas wouldnt seem to have as much of a meaning as it does now. So my answer would be easter:)
