Question of the Week

If you were given a million dollars,
what would you do with it?

- Kyle O.

Funny you should ask, Kyle, because I mentioned this to the Lord just the other day.

Recently, I went to an out-of-town wedding and was able to renew friendships with nieces and nephews that I had not seen in a few years. One of my nephews is struggling with circumstances in his life that categorize his present condition as "dysfunctional."

As I considered my position as his Aunt, I knew my family, along with the Lord's help, was capable of making a difference in his life. Next summer, we plan on arranging for him to spend a bit of his summer with us.

Then it hit me... wouldn't it be cool if I could personally take my nephew, along with my son (who is close in age) on a missions trip? As quick as the idea came up, I let it go, due to my constant lack of funding. With numerous missions trips behind me, I knew the routine... fundraisers, passport applications, medical exams, not to mention the physical and spiritual preparation. All of this was worth the effort, yielding a greater spiritual return than I could ever fathom. But my biggest hurtle would no doubt be finances.

So, the last thing I whispered in God's ear only a few days ago regarding this far-fetched idea was, "If someone gave me a million dollars, I know just what I would do with it."

I'll leave it right there and remind you as well as myself, "with God, all things are possible," even a million dollars. (Matt. 19:26)

I'm going to go ahead and assume that I have the million dollars after tithes and taxes. First, I would invest some of it in experimental technology so that when the technology went commercial I'd have alot more dough. Then I would buy a palacial pad somewhere in J-ville while the houses are cheap. I should have about 600 grand left by now, so I think I'd donate $20,000 to charity. $580,000 left. Next, I would pay for colledge tuition to the University of Alabama (roll tide!). Then I think I'd blow some money on a Chorvette and drive in style. Now I have about $400,000 left. I'll put half of that into a Swiss bank acount then ,with 200 grand left, I might, MIGHT, have enought to fill up the Chorvette with gas.

I would simply start investing in Chinese companies. Seeing as China is becoming the economical juggernaut of our time, I think it would be a safe move. With about 100,000 in a mutual fund, I would move to either Tokyo or Sydney, Australia. I would then live of the money from both my investments and my mutual fund, which would over time keep multiplying thanks to the wonders of compound interest.

I would first tithe the money to our church first. Then I would help people out. I would then keep 10k of it to spend then put the rest of it in a bank account. I could invest that money and then put some of the money into a college fund. (I might even buy a car along the way) ;)

If I were given a million dollars (which first of all would never happen) I'm sure there would be plenty of things for me to spend it on.

The first thing I would spend some cash on, is my 1965 Mustang. I've had it for about a year now, but it still has a lot of work to be done to it. So I would use as much as I needed to get the car running again, and to have it look presentable.

Next, I would use some of it to pay for my college tuition and expenses. (I know my parents would be happy about that)

Speaking of my parents, I might-if they are lucky- set some cash aside for them, so when they are older they won't have to worry about money.

Next, I would give a little something to the charity of my choice (not sure what charity that would be yet).

One of the best things I can think of to do with the money, is pay to go to the best concerts in the world. ( I won't say who, because I don't want to get any grief from the people who hate the kind of music I thrive on.

The last thing I would blow some cash on, is a brand new piano, and a few awesome guitars.

That wasn't hard at all, but now I have to live knowing what I WOULD do with a million dollars, knowing that I CAN'T get any of it...haha

Oh, and I forgot about this one-

I would use however much of the money that was needed, to go on a mission trip to Ecuador every year until I am 21 (maybe older, depending on how much money I have left).

I would also use some of the money to help the children who live in Ecuador. From my past experience I have seen that they literally have NOTHING. And I want to change that.

Well, I'd put away enough for art college, somewhere around $100,000.00 for a BA degree. After that, I'd probably put half of it away for after college, then go for my dream of visiting(or moving to depending on where exactly I get a job.) Japan.(Harajuku all the way baby) Then I suppose I'd buy massive amounts of Anime merchandise. <3

well First I would donait some to churches then I would give some to charity then the rest I would spend for a car bills and save the rest for the future.

That is one of the easiest questions to answer.

First I would put money away for college. I am planning on going to medical school so that costs a lot as it is.

Then I would go on some mission trips like shay. I missed the one with our church and i would like to go on one.

Next I would get a nice car. Not overly expensive but something that i have always wanted. A dark red convertible corvette.

The rest would probably go towards mostly gas and whatever pops up.

This question is easy..and hard at the same time. If I had a million what would I do with it?

First of all, I would help pay off our house. Since my dad has no job right now..paying off our house would seem logical.

Second, I would use some of it to donate to churches..

Third, I would DEFIANTLY use some of it to help endangered animals, and of course help the homeless.

Although I would love to buy fancy houses and cars and blah blah blah. But that is just plain selfish! There is more people on this earth that need more things than I do!! So to some up all the things I would want to buy..I would try to help as many living things as possible! Leaving maybe just enough to go to collage..Since I want to be a Veternarian collage with cost a ton.(wow I cannot spell!)
And by being a how ever you spell it..I could save even more helpless animals!

This is the perfect question for my moto..."A million dollars may seem like a lot at first..but when there is so many people you want to help..1,000,000 bucks seems like only 1 buck"

If I had a million dollars I would give it to someone else. I would absolutely go crazy with a million dollars at my disposal. I would constantly be thinking about what to get, what to do with it, where to hide it; And I'm sure that many people would find out I had a million dollars. It might get on the news and then I'd have some fools trying to rob me. I'd just find someone who knew what to do with it and give it to them. I'd possibly keep a few hundred though, but no more. A million dollars is way too much for my conscience to handle.

If I had a million dollars I would buy a small house, a cheap car, and save the rest for food.

I wouldn't turn down $1 million, but, like Nathan, I shudder to think of the responsibilities attached. "To whom much is given, much shall be required." I could tell you right now what I would do with it; but then if supposition became reality, I would be held accountable to at least 15 other people reading this!

If I had a million dollars, I would buy the top winning barrel horses and go to every show that I could get to and win back all of the money, plus some.

If I had a million dollars I would first tithe 10% to church then I would donate a good amount to charity. Then I would probably buy my mom, my dad, my sister, and me a really nice car. After that I would help my parents with anything they needed then I would redecorate my room. Once I did all those things I would save whatever I had left.

A million dollars--something that I really would not care to possess. Trust me, it would be wonderful to never worry about money and just spend, spend, spend. Yet, as Nathan and Mrs. Brooks have pointed out, responsibility follows such a huge sum. Plus, earning money by hard work always turns out as more rewarding.
Still, if someone insisted on giving a million dollars to me, especially as a gift, I guess I would accept it out of politeness and try to spend it wisely.
First, I would offer a part of it to God, depending on how much He laid on my heart to give. And, of course, any taxes would have to be deducted (insert Relient K's song, "Life After Death [and Taxes]" here).
Secondly, I would purchase a Honda Odyssey and brick house for my mom, which she has always desired.
Thirdly, to help out my parents, I would pay for the colleges (tuition, books, room, and board) that my brother and I wish to attend. Specifically, I want to go to Master's College in California or Bryan College in Tennessee, each at about $20,000-30,000 a year. Also, I would pay for our cars and car insurances.
Fourth, I would donate to Christian causes and ministries like Voice of the Martyrs, Grace to You, missions, and Sovereign Grace. Also, I would try to fulfill any needs that my church has.
By this time, most or all of my money would probably be gone. If there was any left, I would save it in a bank account or spend it on music.
Definitely, if I had a million dollars, this is how I would deal with it.
